On August 30, the Isr*eli Embassy in Ghana, in collusion with two local schools and West African cinema chain Silverbird Cinemas, bused in school children to fill out empty seats in a successfully boycotted film festival it had organized.

• DR Congo: The Latest African Country Pledging Embassy Move To Jerusalem

In his latest show of total fealty and subservience to Western interests, DRC President Felix Tshisekedi paid a visit to Jerusalem where he met with Isr*eli President Isaac Herzog. During the visit, he pledged to move DRC’s embassy to Jerusalem and to “strengthen the longstanding relationship” between the DRC and Israel.

While still being one of the most vi*lently exploited countries in Africa by the West, the DRC under Tshisekedi has continued to deepen its relationship with the very powers that have historically benefited from the exploitation of its vast natural resources.

Isr*el on its part values such “relationships” with African comprador leaders like Tshisekedi, not only to secure access to the raw minerals needed to run its economy and manufacture weapons used in its g*nocidal onslaught on West Asia, but also to strengthen its influence on the continent.

This move will boost energy wealth for and deepen intra-African cooperation between both countries.

Across Africa, women have always been part of the frontlines of resistance. They led movements, organized communities, challenged colonial power, and stood up to injustice even when the cost was enormous. Many of them risked everything. Their freedom, their families, sometimes even their lives. And they did it because they believed liberation was worth fighting for.

Their stories remind us that struggles for justice have never been carried by men alone. Women have always been strategists, organizers, and leaders shaping the direction of those movements.

Today, as many African societies continue to confront inequality and the long shadows of colonial history, remembering these women is more than just history. It is a reminder to recognize, support, and amplify the role women continue to play in shaping the future of African liberation and social change.

• As Elections Near, Ruto Dances to a New Tune

More than 100 Kenyans, many of them young, were k*lled during the protest waves of 2024 and 2025 - protests initially driven by opposition to the proposed Finance Bill and its tax measures. As the death toll from the 2024 Gen Z uprising mounted, President William Ruto insisted that he had “no blood on [his] hands”. He maintained that the police were independent of his office and said they could account for, and justify, their actions.

Among those k*lled was 12-year-old Kennedy Onyango, reportedly shot eight times while going to buy school supplies rather than taking part in the demonstrations. Asked about the boy’s death, Ruto replied: “He is alive, right?”

Now, as the 2027 election approaches, Ruto appears to have made a striking political reversal. He says no Kenyan should lose their life for dissenting from the government or exercising the right to peaceful protest. Is this merely an election-season recalibration by a President who once defended the very security apparatus now under scrutiny?

• Ghana To End Exportation Of Unrefined Gold This September

Ghana’s Gold Board (GOLDBOD) has just issued a directive to all gold exporters in the country to refine all their stock within Ghana before export. This ban on the exportation of unrefined gold from Ghana will go into effect on September 1st, and secure greater state revenue for Ghana and its people.

Under the leadership of President John Mahama, Ghana continues to chart a nationalist trajectory, one which echoes the vision of its founding father, Kwame Nkrumah.

• The Polygamist: A Neoliberal Cultural Psy-op To Demonise Africa’s Polygamous Culture?

In this video, South African politician, Dr Khanyisile Litchfield-Tshabalala posits that South African TV series The Polygamist presents a deeply distorted portrayal of a practice that has existed within African societies for centuries. She argues that polygamy, as traditionally practiced in many African communities, was not merely an undisciplined man pursuing multiple sexual partners at will, but a social institution governed by cultural norms, ancestral laws and communal expectations, with responsibilities and obligations toward every member of the family.

In her words, consent, accountability and the welfare of the household were central to its practice. It was not synonymous with promiscuity. Whereas she says, what The Polygamist depicts is something fundamentally different: a man driven by sexual gratification, deception and disregard for the women involved. Far from an honest representation of traditional African polygamy, she says, it is a bastardisation of the institution.

• Niger Signs Agreement to Establish 100,000-barrel-per-day Refinery

On 15 August 2026, Abdourahmane Tchiani’s revolutionary government signed a milestone agreement with Zimar Group to construct a 100,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Dosso.

This is part of the Nigerien government’s efforts to nationalize its resources, breaking the old cycle of exporting raw crude and importing refined products.

The project could allow Niger to capture more value from its hydrocarbon resources, as it is already doing with its other natural resources. It also promises to strengthen its energy security, and create a foundation for greater industrialization within the country and across the Sahelian alliance.

The country’s riches include gold, copper, zinc, fertile highlands, coastal fisheries, and a strategic location near some of the world’s most important shipping routes. Along with these material assets, Eritrea also boasts a deep cultural richness, expressed through its nine ethnic groups, its sacred traditions, and a revolutionary spirit born in its long struggle for sovereignty.

Eritrea won its independence from the Western-aligned Ethiopian Empire on the eve of African Liberation Day, May 24, 1991, following a 30-year war. Over the next 30 years, the country would consolidate its sovereignty, while facing repeated aggression from Ethiopia.

Western media outlets would have you believe that Eritrea is an “impoverished, dangerous, militarized, authoritarian, human rights-violating state”. In truth, this narrative is just that, a narrative, a story, one which serves a very important geopolitical purpose. By demonizing Eritrea, the West delegitimizes the country’s revolutionary leadership. And by imposing crippling sanctions on Eritrea, the West weakens the country’s economy, sowing discontent among its masses – discontent which it can then weaponize against the aforementioned revolutionary leadership.

Control over the Horn of Africa is the endgame here. The U.S.-Israeli war of aggression against Iran has led to tighter regulation of the Strait of Hormuz – which accounts for roughly 20% of global oil trade – by the Iranian authorities. This in turn has increased traffic along the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, which lies just off Eritrea’s southeastern coast and has historically accounted for roughly 10% of global oil trade.

Eritrea is one of only three countries which currently share sovereign control over the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and benefit from its traffic. The other two are Yemen and Djibouti. Eritrea’s government and Yemen’s Houthi de facto government stand firmly against the West. Djibouti’s government, on the other hand, has a “defense partnership” with the United States. Should it be any wonder, then, how Western media is choosing to portray the former two?

History does not repeat itself, people repeat mistakes

This May, the U.S. announced its intention to lift some of the (illegal, immoral and unprovoked) sanctions it has spent the last 5 years imposing on Eritrea. Did the world’s most violent and treacherous country suddenly grow a conscience? Or has Iran’s consistent humiliation of this treacherous country made it desperate? In any case, the sanctions are still in place, and Eritrea remains surrounded by militarized states that answer, fundamentally, to the West. Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE are among these states, and are currently working to form military blocs which threaten Eritrea’s security – such as the UAE-Israeli and Saudi-Egypt-Somilia military blocs.

There’s a quote by African Revolutionary icon Assata Shakur which is instructive here:

“The first thing the enemy tries to do is isolate revolutionaries from the masses of people, making us horrible and hideous monsters so that our people will hate us.” – Assata Shakur

Indeed, the narrative about Eritrea that the West would have us all believe could not be further from the reality of what this country, under its revolutionary leadership, the People’s Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), has achieved over the last 35 years.

It’s important we highlight some of these achievements…

Women’s Rights

The PFDJ has implemented policies and programs to ensure equal access for women to education, employment, healthcare, land and capital. Between 1990 and 2018, female youth literacy in the country grew from 49.3% to 92.7%, and in the 2022/2023 academic year, women constituted 44.6% of university students. Though much work remains to be done as the country’s economy navigates Western sanctions, for women in Eritrea, gender equality is not the performative slogan that it is in many parts of the world. It is a lived experience rooted in the country’s revolutionary culture. Women were active participants and leaders in Eritrea’s struggle for independence.

Food Security

In 1991, Eritrea had fewer than 100 dams and water reservoirs. Today, the country boasts over 900. It produces 75% of its own food and is working to increase this number. Public access to safe drinking water grew from 7% at the time of independence to 95% today. And unlike some African countries ruled by Western puppet regimes (see Nigeria et al., 2026), there are no genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in Eritrea’s food system, due to the PFDJ’s strict, pro-African environmental protection policies. You won’t find the likes of Bill Gates snooping around in Eritrea, distributing seeds designed to destroy the soil they’re planted in.

U.S. sanctions on key institutions like the Eritrean state-owned Red Sea Trading Corporation (RSTC) continue to threaten the country’s food security, but have so far failed to break its will.

Healthcare

Healthcare is free for all in Eritrea. The country has the highest life expectancy in its region and has recorded drastic drops in child and maternal mortality rates over the decades. 80% of its population live within 10 kilometers of a health facility. 98% of its pregnant women receive reliable antenatal and postnatal care, free of charge. More than 95% of its infants are vaccinated. And public health awareness is the order of the day.

U.S. sanctions on Eritrea’s financial sector have locked it out of “international” payment systems like SWIFT, making medical collaboration and procurement across borders difficult. But the struggle continues.

Education

Education is free to all Eritrean citizens, from elementary to tertiary. Elementary education is compulsory and the country has one of the highest literacy rates on Earth, with a youth literacy rate of about 93% as of 2018. This, Eritrea achieved despite UN Security Council (UNSC) sanctions restricting its importation of lab equipment, computers, electronics, tools, and educational software. Travel bans have also hampered international academic collaboration, the exchange of knowledge required for any serious nation to develop in this day and age. But the struggle continues.

Stability

Despite external hostilities, Eritrea enjoys peace within its own borders. Nine ethnic groups, four major religions, and various nationalities all live harmoniously in the country. The country officially recognizes all nine of its ethnic languages, with the working languages being Tigrinya, Tigre, Arabic and English.

The Need for Pan-African Power Bases

The All-African People’s Revolutionary Party (A-APRP) asserts that all people of African descent are Africans, no matter where they may have been born or where they live. One of the major problems facing Africans today – and why so many of us across the globe deny or shy away from our African heritage – is a lack of POWER. The A-APRP understands that for Africans, this power will only come when our people are consciously organized, under a revolutionary, Pan-Africanist party, grounded in indigenous, scientifically socialist principles. Wherever such a party gains state power in Africa, that African state will prosper, and be able to withstand any external or internal threats to its prosperity, since it will prioritize building the human and technological capacities necessary to do so. The enemies of humanity have always known this, and have done everything in their own power to stop the African Revolution. From Ghana in 1966, to Mali in 1977, to Burkina Faso in 1987, to Libya in 2011, to the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) and Eritrea today, the pattern has been the same since the Decade of African Independence.

By recognizing the true face of our enemy, consciously organizing against this enemy, and standing firmly behind those who are already leading the way, we Africans can break this pattern, once and for all.

The people of Eritrea have proclaimed: “Self-determination is an intrinsic trait of Eritreans. Hence, Eritrea is committed to self-development with dignity, relying first and foremost on its own people to set the pace, direction, and character of the country’s passage from colonial subjugation to full economic sovereignty.”

The A-APRP condemns the decades of aggression, slander and sanctions perpetrated against Eritrea by the Western capitalist empire. We salute the sacrifice of Eritrea’s brave women and men, who waged a 30-year struggle for their liberation and won. We remain steadfast in our support for Eritrea’s goals of sovereignty, social justice, national development, and taking its rightful place on the world stage, as a truly independent African state.

• Africans Are Still Being Lynched In The United States

Over the past 25 years, there have been over 70 cases in the United States of African-Americans being found hanging in public places, which were swiftly ruled as su*cides by local law enforcement. This pattern saw a curious uptick between March 2025 and August 2026, coinciding with the current tenure of US President Donald Trump, who may easily be considered the most openly racist, anti-African and corrupt US leader of the last two centuries (emphasis on “openly”).

These chilling cases echo the historical lynchings of African-Americans throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. For Africans in the Motherland as well as its diaspora, these cases, viewed against the backdrop of history, offer a telling glimpse into just how much African lives matter to the United States of America.

• Niger Awards Uranium Mining Rights To Two Local Companies

Under the revolutionary leadership of General Abdourahamane Tiani, Niger continues to benefit from its natural resources – a feat which previous Western-aligned administrations were supposedly “unable” to achieve. Last week, the Nigerien government awarded licenses on two mining projects previously owned by Western corporations, to two indigenous, state-owned mining companies.

These twin developments represent greater state revenue for the Nigerien government, and improved living standards for the country’s people.

• Sudan: Schools Resume In Khartoum As Security Improves

Sudanese children are slowly returning to school in the capital city of Khartoum, as the security situation in the city slowly improves. About 8 million, however, remain out of school, as the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) continue to reclaim territory from the UAE and US-backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.

The externally-fueled proxy war in Sudan officially entered its fourth year this April 2026. Across the resource-rich North African nation, millions remain displaced, facing hunger, disease and death in what many are calling the worst humanitarian crisis of our time, while the “international community” continues to turn a blind eye.

• UK News Outlet The Guardian Refuses To Take Down False Story About Iran

In 2016, British news outlet The Guardian took 13 articles off its website over fabrication, and advertised this move as proof of its long-standing commitment to “journalistic integrity”.

Yet for over 16 years, The Guardian has left a particular article up on its website, an article about Iran, whose Iranian author personally admitted in 2025 to having “fabricated the entire piece”.

Like its fellow Western media outlets, the Guardian’s “journalistic integrity” tends to become very selective when the political interests it answers to are at stake.

A lesson that Africans who put stock on these Western media outlets would do well to take note of.

It sounds improbable, right? And that is precisely the point.

For decades, Europeans - from the EU to the US - have arrived across Africa presenting themselves as neutral guardians of democracy. But election observation has never existed outside politics, power and foreign interests.

In this report, @sannario_ looks beyond the language of “democracy support” to ask: who gave Europeans the authority to grade African democracies, and whose interests are really being protected when it does so?

• Niger and Algeria Strengthen Energy Cooperation, Launch 260 Million-Barrel Oil Project

Niger has moved to strengthen its energy cooperation with North African neighbor Algeria, as the two nations normalize their long-strained diplomatic ties. This cooperation saw the launch of a 260 million-barrel oil project in Niger’s Agadez region on August 13, and the inaugural delivery of jet fuel from Algeria’s state-owned oil company SONATRACH to Niger 2 days later.

Both developments aim to boost the energy wealth of the historically energy-poor Niger.

Tensions between Niger and Algeria rose in April 2025, following the latter’s shooting down of a drone belonging to Niger’s fellow Alliance of Sahel States (AES) member, Mali. Despite Algeria’s long history of solidarity with African liberation movements – including South Africa’s African National Congress (ANC), Mozambique’s FRELIMO party, the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cabo Verde (PAIGC), and the Black Panther Party – its current leadership, with its “pragmatic” relations with the US and EU, has proven itself to be a pale reflection of that old revolutionary spirit.

But the recent normalization of ties with the sovereign, revolutionary AES spells hope for the future.

• Tanzania President Samia Suluhu Hassan Inaugurates Country’s Largest Hydropower Plant

Tanzania has officially inaugurated its historic, 2,115-megawatt Julius Nyerere Hydropower Plant, as the country’s government moves to provide 100% electricity access to its over 70 million citizens. The $2.84 billion clean-energy project was built between 2019 and 2025, with backing from China, and speaks to China’s continued solidarity with Africa on the continent’s path to sovereign development.

Projects like this, and the example they set for the rest of Africa, are precisely what the West was trying to prevent when it attempted and failed to stage a color revolution in Tanzania on October 29, 2025. The aggressive push for Generative AI is a calculated move to turn “intelligence” into a product, something people must constantly pay for and depend on. When Sam Altman openly talks about selling intelligence like electricity, it tells you everything you need to know.

Across Africa, this idea is being sold hard to governments, students, creatives, and workers as “the future,” even in places still struggling with basic infrastructure.

At the same time, there’s a clear double standard. Tech elites like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg limit their own children’s exposure to the very technologies being pushed on everyone else. The Spearhead’s Kangmwa Gofwen explains that this contradiction should raise serious questions.

• A Glaring Media Double Standard

These young men were charged on August 17, 2026, with running a cocaine trafficking ring on a US college campus between 2023 and 2024.

Unlike the typical mainstream media publicity blitz accompanied by sarcastic, racially-coded social media comments about “usual suspects”, “super-predators”, “per-capita” and “dindu nuffin” that would be expected if the suspects were significantly darker skinned, this case has received only moderate coverage within the US and next to no coverage outside it.

Would we expect the same silence if these faces were people of African descent?

Africans must learn to watch over their daughters in today’s world, and judge all strangers who enter their space by their actions, not their claims.

We stand with those among us who fight for, and those around the world who support, our sovereign development.

The Transatlantic Slave Trade saw the kidnapping of some 12 and 20 million Africans from the Motherland by European criminals. Of those kidnapped, 20% would not survive the long, hellish voyage to the West. Those who did would be trafficked across the Western Hemisphere, and worked to death in order to build the West’s economies.

Africans would do well to take note, and ask themselves what their own, current governments, equally “unable” to do these clearly very simple things, are really up to.

In April 2026, under a hail of backlash from Nigeria, the World Bank deleted a policy report where it recommended that Nigeria re-open its market to petroleum imports, despite hosting the world’s largest single train refinery in Lagos. The report justified this recommendation by claiming that Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote now holds a monopoly on fuel in Nigeria.

The question, as succinctly outlined by this Nigerian commentator, is why did over 60 years of European corporate control of Nigeria’s refined petroleum market not raise the same concerns about “monopoly”? Why does “monopoly” only become an issue when Africans seize control of their own resources from European and US corporate interests?

This question has taken on even more significance as Africa’s wealthiest businessman prepares to break ground on a $15.5-billion petroleum refinery project on Kenya’s Indian Ocean coast.

• John Bolton: U.S. Behind Many Regime Change Operations

At least we can rely on a nasty imperialist like John Bolton for one thing: His honesty.

This is one of a few clips circulating showing Bolton, who had once been US National Security Advisor and a US ambassador to the UN, admitting that the US engages in regime change. Bolton said the US should have stayed occupying Afghanistan as it does Germany. The part about Germany is one many in the West may not be able to wrap their heads around, but yes, the US colonised Europe after World War II, funding its reconstruction and occupying it militarily to this day with at least 38 known bases and 84,000 troops.

• African Proverb of The Week

Why do some African leaders – like the leaders of Senegal, Gabon, Liberia and South Africa – get summoned to the West like lapdogs, while other African leaders – like the leaders of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) – refuse to be disrespected by this hostile foreign entity, and treat it exactly as it treats them?

Why do some Africans choose to seek validation and success in the West, while others choose to fight for the unification, liberation and prosperity of their own Motherland?

And what differences are we starting to see between these two groups, in terms of their progress and their position on the world stage?

The answer lies in this East African proverb. As long as we Africans continue to view ourselves as inferior to others, those others will continue to trample over us. But when, like leaders and people of the AES, we choose to finally respect ourselves, the world will finally respect us.

After decades of humiliation, the supposedly “inferior” Africans of the AES chose to sever ties with their former European colonizer, forge more equitable relationships with the international community that actually served their indigenous interests, and establish a unified army to defend these interests.

And the sky did not fall down.

• “Disunity between our peoples must cease!” – Fidel Castro

Fidel Castro (1926 – 2016), former Cuban President and anti-imperialist icon, would have turned 100 this Thursday, August 13, 2026.

In this excerpt from his powerful speech at the 12th Annual Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Durban, South Africa, on September 2, 1998, Castro calls on the people of Africa, the wider Global South, and the world at large, to rise above the petty divisions imposed on them by Western colonial powers, and unify in the pursuit of a truly just world.

Today, he is remembered fondly in Africa as a staunch supporter of the continent’s many liberation struggles, including South Africa’s anti-apartheid struggle, for which former South African President, Nelson Mandela (1918 – 2013), expressed lifelong gratitude to and solidarity with the Cuban leader. In the West, Castro is remembered less fondly, as the fearless revolutionary who survived over 600 assassination attempts by Western intelligence, and died as free as he had lived in 2016.

His work continues to inspire millions across the Global South, who dare to dream of a world free from the pestilence of Western imperialism.

One of many sacred African artifacts stolen by European criminals during their colonial invasions of Africa, and now on display in various museums across Europe, Djidji Ayokwe was historically used as a communication device by the Ebrié people of southern Côte d’Ivoire.

Africa continues to await the return of all its other sacred artifacts, and the continent’s continued lack of sovereignty and unity is perhaps the main reason why these artifacts remain beyond its reach.

• Ghana And Burkina Faso Sign Defense Pact To Secure Trade Routes

Burkina Faso and Ghana have just signed a defense pact to secure their trade routes, amid relentless attacks on the former by Western-backed t*rrorists, and continued antagonism by Western-aligned African governments.

Both West African nations have embarked on nationalist trajectories, with Burkina Faso taking the lead as a member of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). The defense pact will significantly boost economic development for both nations.

• U.N. Whistleblower: Abusing Children Is ‘Cost of Doing Business’

UN whistleblower Emma Reilly has exposed how child s*xual abuse within the organization is often treated merely as a “cost of doing business.” In an interview with filmmaker Ali Tabrizi, Reilly details a systemic pattern where those involved in abuse or cover-ups are promoted, while those who speak out are retaliated against and silenced.

• UAE Leader Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Confronted In London For Fueling Sudan Conflict

The externally-fueled proxy war in Sudan officially entered its fourth year this April 2026. Across the resource-rich North African nation, millions remain displaced, facing hunger, disease and death in what many are calling the worst humanitarian crisis of our time, while the “international community” continues to turn a blind eye.

The UAE-backed – and by extension, Western-aligned – Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia has perpetrated g*nocide across Sudan in its campaign to seize resource-rich territory on behalf of its sponsors, with the regions of Darfur and Kordofan bearing the worst of the carnage. The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) are fighting to reclaim their nation from this vicious t*rror group, and what was once simplistically painted by international media as a “civil war” between “rival factions”, has quickly transformed into a new independence struggle, with Sudan’s gold, oil, arable land and sovereignty as the prize.

On August 9, Dubai ruler and UAE Prime Minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum was confronted in the streets of London by a Sudanese man, who called out the UAE’s continued fueling of the conflict in Sudan.

The reaction of Al-Maktoum’s entourage to this Sudanese man offers a chilling but unsurprising glimpse into the minds of the UAE’s leadership.

The “universal”, “humanistic” “values” of the West are, in fact, neither universal nor humanistic.

There is nothing “universal” or “humanistic” about values which always place a particular group of (alleged) human beings, culturally, politically and intellectually, above everyone else. With its “universal values”, the West has imposed systems on the nations of the Global South which have entrenched, in these nations, some of the most corrupt leaderships in known history. With its “universal values”, the West has “intervened” in sovereign nations, in order to replace “authoritarian” nationalist governments which actually put the interests of their own people first, with “democratic” governments willing to sell their people to Western corporate interests.

In the name of its “universal values” of “freedom”, “democracy” and “human rights”, the West has waged a forever war against all life on Earth for more than 500 years.

And to this day, the West continues to sabotage nationalist movements in the Global South, including and especially Africa, by demonizing, attacking and sowing division within these movements.

While Chinese is a vital skill for future trade with Africa’s largest bilateral partner, the value of French and Arabic should be questioned, especially with shifting global alliances and a declining influence of traditional colonial languages.

Perhaps the real, unanswered question is why our own indigenous languages—and powerful regional connectors like Swahili—are often treated as secondary. If the goal of education reform is truly to prepare the next generation for the realities of global and continental commerce, should we be looking beyond the established global powers to foster deeper, more strategic connections right here at home?

We’ve heard it all our lives from Western and Western-aligned voices: Africa’s problems are caused by “corruption” and “bad leadership”.

But throughout Africa’s modern history, there have been other voices – voices like Marcus Garvey, Kwame Nkrumah, Patrice Lumumba, Kwame Ture and Thomas Sankara – calling on Africans to look to our history, and from it, learn the true cause of our problems.

Not “corruption” – that exists everywhere – not “bad leadership” – that also exists everywhere – but a foreign parasite which infected our home 500 years ago, and had no intention of ever leaving us alone.

Africa is suffering because it has been and continues to be colonized. Its “corrupt” leaders, in reality, simply serve the interests of this colonial entity. And this East African proverb calls on us to channel our time, energy and resources towards defeating this colonial entity, rather than wasting our time, energy and resources on its mindless puppets.

These puppets must go, yes. But unless we understand the system they serve and also purge this system from our societies — as the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) has done — they will simply be replaced.
