Africans Stood By South Africa In Its Darkest Hour
South Africa is currently experiencing its latest anti-immigration wave. Under the false pretext of “protecting” their country from crime, a noisy minority of historically-illiterate South Africans has taken to the streets, hunting down and att*cking Africans from other nations, blocking their children at the gates of schools, denying their mothers medical care, and calling for them to return to their countries.
In this report for the Spearhead, Okorie Uche sheds light on a time when all of Africa stood solidly by South Africa when it needed it the most, and how this latest wave of anti-African sentiment in the country disgraces that memory of Pan-African solidarity.
Ibrahim Traoré Tackles Corruption & Health Care in Burkina Faso
The Popular Revolution in Burkina Faso continues to bear fruit, as the West continues its desperate slander campaign against the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) member nation. Under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the country has curtailed corruption with the dismissal, on June 18, 2026, of two senior police officers who embezzled substantial public funds, and boosted its health sector with the simultaneous inauguration, on June 20th, of 67 new health centers, which will give 150,000 more Burkinabé citizens better access to health care.
These developments stand as the latest testament to Africa’s real problem. Under previous, Western-aligned administrations, Burkina Faso never experienced half the progress it has experienced over the last 4 years, under its current leadership.
For the rest of Africa, the choice of which example to follow should be obvious.
African Corrupt Leaders and The Hands Behind Them
Over the past couple of weeks, 2 former high level government officials from Nigeria and Ghana living in the UK and US respectively, who are both subjects of high profile corruption probes in their home countries, received legal guarantees of state protection against extradition to face trial at home. Once again, we are confronted with an issue that many in the Global North love to pretend does not exist.
Africa’s “fantastically corrupt” governments are always cited as the reason behind the continent’s state of underdevelopment. What is deliberately omitted by the Western loudmouths who recycle this talking point and infinitum is the foundational role that their own governments play in the acquisition, transfer and warehousing of stolen African state resources, as well as the shielding and protection offered to corrupt African government officials by the same Western governments that have a lot to say about “fighting corruption in Africa.”

BURKINA FASO CONSTRUCTION TO BOOM WITH MINING SURPLUS?
Burkina Faso has created a fund for putting mining-revenue surpluses toward developing the country’s infrastructure. That makes sense given former coloniser France and exploitative foreign corporations post-independence had left the Sahelian country in devastating poverty. The fund fits into President Ibrahim Traoré’s government’s vision for reclaiming stolen resources for the benefit of 24.56 million people.

Ghana Hosts ‘Next Step’ Conference On Reparations
Following the 25 March UN resolution deeming the European slave trade the ‘gravest cr*me against humanity,’ Ghana hosted a conference on reparations. The three-day gathering in June attracted more than 80 countries, including non-African ones that had participated in slavery and colonialism.
Okorie Uche reports on what came out of it.
Dr Joshua Maponga on How the Church Reinforced Colonial Conditioning in Africa
What role has Christianity played in upholding and promoting imperial ideas across Africa and the Global South?
Zimbabwean author, philosopher and former Seventh Day Adventist bishop Joshua Maponga argues that the most practised forms of Christianity in Africa play a key role in maintaining the psychological colonisation of people across the continent.
