Since Burkina Faso severed ties with its former colonizer France in 2023 and chose to chart a sovereign course, the country has faced relentless slander from Western media. One of the most recurrent soundbites is the claim that the country is overrun by terror groups. In reality, the Burkinabé armed forces have been making increasing gains against these Western-backed terrorists, with the government controlling nearly 75% of the country’s territory as of this June.
On the night of September 30, 2026, the Western narrative was further rubbished, as Burkinabé in the supposedly terrorist-dominated northern town of Djibo celebrated 4 years of their country’s Popular Progressive Revolution.
France’s Economic Crisis Worsens As Its Former Colonies In The Sahel Reclaim Their Sovereignty
France is currently on fire as thousands of its students have taken to the streets, protesting worsening conditions in their school system, as well as their economy. This economy has continued to fall freely since France’s 3 wealthiest West African colonies kicked it off their soil between 2021 and 2023.
Since severing ties with France and nationalising their resources, Alliance of Sahel States (AES) members Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso have seen rapid economic, social and political progress.
For Africa, this truth is both a stern and amusing lesson on how inextricably linked their continent’s poverty is to the hyperinflated living standards enjoyed by the West.
Algeria Confirms Role In Thwarting August Coup Attempt In Niger
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has confirmed his country’s role in thwarting the August 28 - 29 coup attempt in Niger. This confirmation, along with other notable moves, signals deepening ties between the two neighboring African countries, and the ever weakening influence of the West on both.
Along with its fellow Alliance of Sahel States (AES) members, Mali and Burkina Faso, Niger continues to show Africa that true sovereignty is possible for the continent.
The once equally revolutionary Algeria appears to be slowly reading the room.
When will the rest of Africa do the same?
Samora Machel: We Acted At The Opportune Time For Revolution
Mozambique’s first revolutionary president, Samora Machel (1933-86), told a reporter that Europeans tend to assume they know the answer, but Mozambique pulled off its revolution at the right time and at the right pace.

Burkina Faso Creates Dedicated Agency to Maintain Public Infrastructure
Burkina Faso is taking a direct approach to tackling infrastructure decay with the launch of FASO SANYA; a dedicated agency focused on maintaining public buildings and facilities.
Rather than letting millions in public investments deteriorate due to bureaucracy and neglected repairs, this new initiative mobilizes skilled local labor to keep schools, hospitals, and government offices safe and functional.
