Six centuries of plunder, and the playbook hasn’t changed.
As the grip of neo-colonial powers slips, they have outsourced their oldest trick - divide and rule - to a class of puppet political elites. From South Africa to Nairobi, systemic governance failures are packaged as xenophobia, manipulating Africans into policing their own colonial-era borders.
The Scramble for Africa never ended; we’ve just allowed our own leaders to become the foot soldiers of our own fragmentation.

US Gains Access To Nigeria’s Lithium Mines Through Local Tech Startup
Nigerian defense technology startup [ @terraindustries (X) / Terra Industries (everywhere else) ] has just closed a $2 million deal to “protect lithium mining operations” in the country.
On the surface, this seems like good news, especially for a homegrown company which advertises itself as an “indigenous solution to Africa’s security challenges”.
The problem is that Terra Industries has been linked to the US intelligence community, by means of its funding, for at least the last 8 months, and the threat that this fact poses to Nigeria’s national security cannot be emphasized enough.

Burkina Faso Receives New Pal*stinian Ambassador
Nearly 3 months after falling victim to a US-Isr*eli-funded disinformation campaign aimed at misrepresenting its diplomatic relations with Isr*el, Burkina Faso has approved the appointment of its new Pal*stinian Ambassador, Hassan Albalawi, by the State of Pal*stine.
Burkina Faso has maintained diplomatic support for Pal*stine since officially recognizing the West Asian nation in 1988, and has no Isr*eli envoys of its own.
It is disappointing, yet also telling, how many so-called – and predominantly non-African – “anti-imperialists” fell for and ran with the aforementioned disinformation campaign, and how quick they were to turn on an African anti-imperialist leader who fictitiously failed to live up to their lofty moral standards.
For many Africans, it was a harsh lesson on how the rest of the world continues to view and judge them, even within so-called anti-imperialist spaces.

Somalia to Reclaim Monetary Control After 35 Years
After 35 years of dollarisation, Somalia is preparing to restore its national currency, with new shilling notes set to enter circulation.
The crisis dates back to 1991, when the collapse of Siad Barre’s government and the civil war that followed left the Central Bank unable to print or manage money, opening the door to counterfeits and a dollar-dominated economy that persists today. Now, Somalia’s parliament is reviewing legislation to establish a Currency Board, while the Central Bank works out the rules for reserves and foreign exchange.

Afua Hirsch: “BBC Wanted Me to Include ‘Corruption’ in African Art Documentary”
At the World Decolonization Forum in May 2026, journalist Afua Hirsch (@afuahirsch) ripped on the BBC for asking her to include images of poverty and corruption in a documentary series about art in Africa.
When will Africans ever be able to talk about our accomplishments without mentioning ridiculous Western-generated tropes? Drop us a comment.
